Paris Gala

Back in November I had the chance to go to Paris for a gala in celebration of the 100th year anniversary of the organization that I’m here through,  AFS. We also got to go to a conference at UNESCO to talk about the future of this organization and how we can bring more peace to our planet through international relations. Then everyone rushed back to their hotels to change into their attire for the evening. The event itself was in a 4-star hotel in Paris. We were in a huge room with past exchange students, current exchange students, volunteers, exchange families, politicians, etc. There were dancers from different countries doing their traditional dances, speeches (including a letter written to the organization by the french president, seeing as he wasn’t able to make an appearance) we ate a delicious dinner and afterwards everyone danced. There was also a lounge at one of the top floors of the hotel with views of Paris-including the Eiffel Tower of course. We may have seen Psy from Gangham Style there-but it can’t be confirmed. I’m so happy to have had the opportunity to celebrate this organization that has made it possible for me to have this amazing experience, and a black-tie gala in Paris was an excellent way to do it.
